Why Do We Celebrate World Diabetes Day?

World Diabetes Day is a day to address issues facing the global diabetes community and is also is Sir Frederick Banting’s birthday. In case you’re not familiar, Banting and his assistant Charles Best co-discovered insulin in the 1920’s. They were both extremely important pioneers in diabetes research.
