A Note to Myself
This tiny little blog is starting to grow. I am starting to feel like I am making a difference in this little diabetes community. But how many of us are there really out there? Who else could possibly learn something from what I have to say?
I am writing this post to myself, hoping to reference back to it in years to come and be thrilled with how happy I once was with my tiny blog stats: The Stat Connection. I am being optimistic, knowing I can do better and have the probability of writing diabetic blog posts for a living. Nothing better than paid advertisement!
Its time to be blunt and honest. I have had 116 views on my blog post today (Feb 9, 2016 at of 4:47pm). With my 262 blog posts (this being 263), I have had close to 86,000 views on my various pages. I didn’t think that was too shabby, until I realized I have spent a lot of time blogging, and I could easily be doing so much better than that!
It’s time to up my game. It time to post more frequently. It’s time to have better content. It’s time to have content that people want to share!
According to my insights, my blog readers are very interested in these three posts: Can Diabetics Donate Blood?, Type 1 Diabetes + Beach = List of Essentials, and Yoga with Type 1 Diabetes. It is very interesting to directly see that each one of these blog posts includes the word “diabetes”. I guess that is important to my readers… and I am glad. That was the point of this blog: to share my diabetes experiences, explain how hard life can be, and help others to understand the reality of what it takes to live a “normal” and “healthy” lifestyle. I am living proof of that, but I will never stop striving to improve myself.
There is certainly a connection between my readers and I. They have a desire to learn more, and I have a desire to describe my thoughts/concerns/complications more. The more that is shared, the more people will visit, the more my blog post stats will go up, the more people will understand how difficult life with type 1 diabetes can be.
I’m at a rut. I seem to be having less & less time to write, and less to actually write about. I’ve been looking at ways to boost my content and make people want to be involved. I am looking at what else I can share that will keep readers interested.
What are your main concerns as a type 1 diabetic? How do you plan to overcome your fears? What is your goal? What do you hope to learn from a blog about type 1 diabetes?
I think a blog entry about how to deal with diabetes and supplies at amusement parks (Six Flags, water parks, fairs, and the like) would be awesome with the summer months coming up. For example, best sites to use for CGMs and pumps so rides don’t ruin them, best cases to use, best places to check levels and refuel, having a plan, etc. Should I even bother with my CGM receiver if I am going to a water park? I haven’t been to one since I had my son 3 years ago and I didnt have a CGM then, so I feel like I have to adjust all over again! Thank you for your time!
